How to watch Champions League in the USA: Full TV schedule for 2020 on CBS channels2020/11/26 03:35
The UEFA Champions League returns with brand new TV channel and live stream options for those watching from the United States.
The UEFA Champions League TV channel and live stream options for those in the United States are completely different now than they were when the COVID-19 pandemic suspended the tournament back in March.
CBS now has the exclusive English language rights for the Champions League in the U.S., but don't expect to catch all of the action on TV. The network is showing eight of the 11 Champions League matches remaining on the 2019-20 schedule exclusively via live stream on CBS All Access, with only three — a couple Round of 16 games and the Final on Aug. 23 — on live TV via CBS Sports Network.

During the Champions League's hiatus, Turner Sports backed out of its deal after showing 2019-20 UEFA games in the U.S. before the season was suspended. CBS swooped in and claimed the rights for the rest of the season, which includes four Round of 16 games, the quarter- and semi-finals and the Champions League Final.
From Sports Business Daily: "Turner opted out of its deal (in June) for a variety of reasons. This year’s tournament suffered through a prolonged stoppage because of the pandemic. Turner was also already operating as a lame duck, given that CBS takes over in the fall of 2021. Plus, Turner originally cut its UEFA deal in 2017 as a way to build up its streaming service B/R Live. It has since folded B/R Live into the Bleacher Report app."
Below are all of the details on how to watch Champions League games in the U.S., plus a complete broadcast schedule for all matches through the Aug. 23 Final.
How to watch Champions League games in the USA
CBS was supposed to take over the exclusive English language rights for Champions League matches starting in 2021, but it did so ahead of schedule after Turner Sports prematurely ended its deal in June. So CBS is now the home for Champions League action in the United States, but it will not show any of the 11 remaining matches this season on its over-air cable network.
All Champions League matches are available live on CBS All Access, which is the network's online streaming service. A select few, including the Champions League Final, will be shown on TV via CBS Sports Network.
CBS All Access starts at $5.99 a month, but it is offering a one-month free trial promotion for new subscribers through mid-August. Users can cancel subscriptions at any time.
Below are the devices on which CBS All Access can be streamed:
For the select games on TV, including the Champions League Final, CBS Sports Network has a channel finder feature for users across the country.
CBS Sports Network is available on most cable provider systems. It's also available from satellite providers DirecTV (channel 221) and Dish Network (channel 158).
As for live TV streaming services, CBS Sports Network is available on fuboTV, YouTube TV and Hulu, and all three come with free trials for new subscribers. Below are links to each.
Univision is still the home of Spanish-language Champions League broadcasts in the U.S.
Champions League TV schedule
The coronavirus shut down live sports on the same day (March 11) that Paris Saint-Germain beat Dortmund and Atlético Madrid topped Liverpool to advance to the Champions League quarterfinals. That left four Round of 16 games left on the schedule.
The Champions League recently determined all four remaining Round of 16 matches could play out at their originally scheduled locations before the tournament heads to Lisbon, Portugal, the neutral site for all semifinal and quarterfinal matches as well as the Final.
"It’s a phenomenal format for us in the U.S. to do it this way,” ViacomCBS chief digital officer Marc DeBevoise told The Associated Press. "A single elimination tournament is something these audiences fully understand. Obviously, there are big soccer fans but March Madness having been effectively canceled, I think people are hungry for things like this.”
All Champions League matches are scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET. Below is the complete Champions League schedule from what's left of the Round of 16 through the Final at the end of the month.
